Worked closely with the Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland and artist, Anders Ruhwald, to produce photographic documentation of his large-scale installation Unit 1: 3583 Dubois. The dimly lit exhibition required long exposures to record the detail and richness of surface, material and tonality while maintaining the feeling evoked by the work. To achieve these concerns, minimal lighting was only added when necessary. Exposures were mostly made under lighting conditions viewers experienced when visiting the installation to maintain consistency between documentation and experience – some very long exposures were only made by candlelight alone. In addition to photographing the beautiful country and people of Ethiopia, I had the great honor of capturing the first moments the 30 Hearts founders met the 30 children and 6 women they help support.
